PRTR
Pollutant Release and Transfer Register
PRTR stands for Pollutant Release and Transfer Register.
Such a pollutant release and transfer register will provide online information on e.g. pollutants released by large industrial facilities in your region or neighbourhood.
What is PRTR?
Based on the E-PRTR-regulation (regulation (EC) 166/2006) industrial facilities of 27 European Member States report their
- Releases of pollutants to air, water and land
- Transfer of waste and
- Transfer of pollutants in wastewater destined for treatment in external wastewater treatment plants
Furthermore, the European register provides information on emissions from diffuse sources, e.g. traffic and agriculture.
Based on the UNECE-PRTR-protocol and the German PRTR-law (SchadRegProtAG, in German only) Germany will establish a national PRTR using data reported to the E-PRTR and including data on emissions from diffuse sources.
